Purdue University hosted MARSS 2025 from July 28th-August 1st!  MARSS, the Intl. Conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales, is the flagship event for cross-disciplinary R&D communities related to manipulation, automation, measurement and characterization at micro/nano scales and all kinds of small-scale robots and their applications.  Prof. Dave Cappelleri was the General Chair and Prof. Craig Goergen was the Local Arrangements Chair.

MARSS2025 offered 11 plenary talks given by distinguished experts. The technical program contained 153 oral presentations offered in 27 technical sessions, including 14 focused special sessions organized by professionals from different MARSS-related fields of research.

This was the 8th MARSS conference – the third one held in North America and the first time it was held in the United States and first time in Indiana!

MSRAL was well represented, presenting the following papers during the conference:

  • “An Automated Magnetic Micro-Robot Assembly System”, presented by Oliver Shindell
  • “MagPrint: A Direct Fabrication Method for Embedded-Magnet Microrobots”, presented by Helen Yang
  • “Mobile Microrobot Grippers with Force Feedback for Safe Biomanipulation”, presented by Aaron Davis
  • “Design of a Lab-Based Graduate Mobile Microrobotics Course”, presented by Dave Cappelleri
